  • 16 teams of UiTM students vied for championship titles and cash prizes

Shah Alam, 1 April 2015 – Yes, a mobile 4G brand under YTL Communications recently brought its first ever GenYes Juara Futsal (GenYes Futsal Championship) to Universiti Teknologi MARA (UiTM) under its Education Partner ProgramTM (EPP), in an effort to promote study life balance and healthier lifestyle on campus through sports.

Opened exclusively to UiTM students with free registration, all 16 teams signed up for the futsal tournament within just two days of the announcement. These teams battled out in a group stage format at UiTM Shah Alam’s sports centre, followed by the knockout stage, quarter-finals, semi-finals and finals.

The tournament concluded with Perindu Legend Jr emerging as the champion, after a 6-5 penalty shoot-out win over Kojo FC. In addition to winning championship titles, Perindu Legend Jr was awarded with RM2,500 cash prize and Kojo FC with RM1,000 cash prize. TFT was named the second runner up, winning RM500 cash prize. The Best Player of GenYes Juara Futsal UiTM went to 22-year-old Muhammad Afiq Bin Mohamad Wahi from Perindu Legend Jr, who also walked away with RM500 cash prize.

In line with EPP’s vision to bring about positive change in a Yes 4G-enabled education environment for tertiary students in EPP partner universities, GenYes Juara Futsal aimed to instill strong teamwork and good sportsmanship within the UiTM community. It also served as a platform to discover talented futsal players who can be groomed to represent UiTM in future tournaments.

The GenYes Juara Futsal tournament will also be brought to other EPP partner universities across Malaysia so that more university students can experience and enjoy the benefits of sporting events. For more information about Yes’ Education Partner ProgramTM, please visit the website
